It was 2018, and the wait was over. LIVE marked the Akoustic Band's triumphant return after 27 years. Chick, John Patitucci and Dave Weckl had never been more in sync, bounding through Corea classics like “Morning Sprite” and “Eternal Child,” and brilliant new takes on standards like “Monk's Mood” and “On Green Dolphin Street.”

Recorded at SPC Music Hall in St. Petersburg, Florida on January 13, 2018. Both complete sets are here across two discs — including both readings of “Humpty Dumpty,” one per set.

Chick's solo on “Humpty Dumpty” (Set Two) won him a 2022 GRAMMY for Best Improvised Jazz Solo, awarded posthumously.

The same three men who started the Elektric Band. In 1985 this trio plugged in at Elario's in La Jolla and became the Chick Corea Elektric Band. Thirty-three years later they walked onstage in Florida and left the cables behind.
